Privacy Policy

Effective October 30, 2026. This replaces the August 31, 2026 policy, which said Japa+ had no analytics. It now uses Google Analytics, and this page says exactly what that means.

The short version

• No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for or log in to.
• Your counts stay on your device. Mantras, rounds, and settings are stored only on your phone (or, in the web version, in your browser's local storage). The counts on your screen are never sent anywhere.
• Google Analytics shows us how Japa+ is used: which screens and pages are opened, and when a round is finished. We use it to see what people use and to make the app better. You can turn it off.
• No ads, and nothing sold. Japa+ shows no ads, reads no advertising identifier, and has Google's advertising features turned off.

Analytics

The iPhone and Android apps use Google Analytics for Firebase. The website and the web app at japaplus.app/app/ use Google Analytics. Both report to us at Japa+, and Google runs them.

What the apps send

• Screens you open: Chant, Settings, and About.
• When a round is finished, with the round's size (108, say) and whether you were tapping or swiping. Analytics can count how many rounds are finished while it is on. It never sees the mantra and round counts on your screen.
• That you reset your counts, or edited one by hand, and which one, never the number.
• Your settings: mantras per round, tapping or swiping, swipe directions, haptic strength, and theme.
• What Google Analytics collects by itself: a random identifier created when the app is installed, app opens and how long they last, the app version, your device model and operating system version, language, and a rough location (country and city) that Google works out from your IP address. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.

What the website and web app send

• Pages you visit, whether you scroll to the bottom of one, and links you follow to another site, such as the App Store or Google Play. In the web app, the same screens and events as the apps, plus a tap on Get the app.
• What Google Analytics collects by itself: a random identifier kept in cookies (_ga and _ga_…), the site that sent you here, your browser, device type, screen size, language, and a rough location from your IP address.

What analytics never get

• Your mantra and round counts.
• Your name, email, or any account, because Japa+ has none.
• An advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA, Android's advertising ID), or an identifier for your device as a whole (Apple's IDFV, Android's Android ID). The random identifier above belongs to this install of the app and goes when you delete it. Japa+ never asks to track you across apps, because it doesn't.

Google signals and ad personalization are off, and the data is not used for advertising. Google handles it under its own policy for sites and apps that use its services.

Turning analytics off

• In the iPhone or Android app: Settings, then Usage Analytics. Once it is off, the app records nothing more. On an iPhone, what it had already recorded is sent once, the next time you leave the app; after that, nothing.
• On this website and in the web app: press Turn off in the notice at the bottom of the page, or use the switch below. Your choice is kept in a cookie named jp_analytics, in this browser only, and it covers both the website and the web app. If your browser blocks cookies, no analytics run here at all.

The web version's hosting

japaplus.app is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operations; see GitHub's privacy statement. The web app also loads parts of Flutter, the toolkit it is built with, and its fonts from Google's servers (gstatic.com), so Google receives those requests as a web host would. We do not receive or use any of those logs.

Children

Japa+ is for everyone, and asks no one who they are. Analytics data is never linked to a name or an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
